Desktop Goose is a hilarious and free software for your computer that lets a virtual goose cause a ruckus on your screen. The goose will patrol and even control your screen with this software. Desktop Goose will interact with you as you use your Microsoft Windows device, whether that be a desktop PC or your laptop. You also have some ability to customize your Desktop Goose, which allows you to change certain behaviors, such as when the goose makes its entry onto your screen.

The goose is cute, and that’s part of the problem. This virtual goose was meant to distract you. This is unlike programs like Desktop Meadow, which is essentially a virtual garden that grows on the edges of your screen, your windows, and your taskbars, encouraging you with appealing florals and graphics. Desktop Meadow does not inhibit your productivity, and even features things like flowers, birds, mushrooms, and much more.

However, Desktop Goose also has its place. While the goose is distracting, it may also help some people focus by means of making users excited to use their computers. For some, half of the battle is wanting to sit down and work, with this software, it may make sitting down in front of your computer an exciting, interesting experience. While some may find the goose distracting, others may find that it’s the one thing that draws them to sit down and work. For some people, creating a game out of their chores or tasks makes them more bearable to manage, and creating games is one thing that the Desktop Goose happens to be awfully good at.

Some have stated that the Desktop Goose is a virus, and if you do any amount of searching online, you’ll see plenty of websites that try to state as such. However, it’s been determined by many that Desktop Goose is not a virus at all and that the free software is completely safe to download and use. In fact, trusted adware services such as Avast have deemed the Desktop Goose as secure to use and enjoy. However, even though Desktop Goose is safe, your PC may try to prevent unrecognized applications from running. This is where your PC will show notifications that will give you the option to run the program anyway or “don’t run.” As long as you choose the option that runs the program anyway, Desktop Goose will launch with no hassles.

While many are worried about Desktop Goose being a virus, many others are worried about the best Goose friend harming their computer. Geese may cause problems, but Desktop Goose only causes issues you’re aware of and asking for. This software is lightweight and doesn’t require very much storage space to download or run. For extra security, the goose is only allowed to interact with the files that are in the Desktop Goose folder. This prevents your goose from harming anything that is actually very important, such as official documents or schoolwork.

This funny animated goose will cause trouble in the most adorable way. The goose can randomly gain control of your mouse to move the cursor around the screen, but the goose will not click any items by accident. The goose is set to cause trouble without doing any everlasting harm. However, some people really do find the goose to be disruptive and distracting, especially since the goose can gain control of your mouse. There will likely be times when the goose gains control of your mouse as you work on something important. There are also moments where the goose may damage your gaming experience, especially if he takes control over your mouse during your game, causing you to lose control over your actions during your game and mess up your play session and progress. For action games that are fast-paced, like first-person shooters, this could be a nightmare for the player.

Because the Desktop Goose only takes control of your mouse for a few seconds, it’s unlikely to cause major damage. However, the potential for damage is still large enough, even with just a few seconds of control. Because of that, many people don’t wish to try Desktop Goose, since they view it as too great a risk. It’s important to remember that the goose can only interact with items you allow it to interact with though, so it’s easy to secure your most important files and folders. It’s also important to remember that Desktop Goose is also customizable, which adds an extra layer of safety when using the software.

While Desktop Goose may be customizable, the personalization page isn’t the simplest page to maneuver. This is because the preference section requires basic coding to change settings, which some people may not have the skills to manage. This makes changing your goose settings and options a bit more difficult and troublesome, which can be frustrating. For example, if you’d like to modify the simulation experience, you can go to the Desktop Goose folder to right-click on the configuration file to bring up a content menu. From there, you can hit the “open” tab to bring up the notepad choice in a list of programs, this is used to open Desktop Goose. From there, a somewhat simple line of code appears in the notepad application, this lets you alter the goose by writing either true or false. You would write either true or false for whether the goose can attack your cursor, as well as the time listed in seconds for when your goose appears. This configuration screen lets you choose the minimum and the maximum time in seconds that your goose can wander around.

While managing Desktop Goose may be somewhat difficult, it’s rather easy to install. Desktop Goose will download onto your PC as a zipped file, you can extract the files from the .ZIP to then uses the software. There are 30 files in the ZIP. You can choose where to extract these files, with the Desktop Goose appearing in your destination location after you’ve extracted the files.

Many people have a lot of fun with the goose, and since the goose can only interact with files that in the Desktop Goose folder, this allows you to essentially play with your goose in unique ways. Many users add their own images and sounds for the goose to use, with some even adding memes, GIFs, and other things. The more you add, the more amusing it’ll be. The number of options is limitless. Desktop Goose makes using your PC fun, and the more you add to your folder, the more fun experiences you’ll enjoy. You never know what your goose will do next, adding excitement and suspense to your computing experience.

Finding your goose is relatively easy to do, as the application is stored in the Desktop Goose folder. You can double-click on the file to launch the software, but you can also change the amount of time that it takes your goose to appear on your screen to zero. However, your goose will never immediately appear by default.

To easily add sounds and images to your simulation, drag and drop the items into either the images or sound section in your asset folder. The program will automatically come with one GIF and seven memes for your goose to interact with. The goose will drag these onto your screen, which is often cute to see, but also sometimes a bit annoying. The goose also uses sounds to depict things like pattering feet and quacking.

For extra customization, a file in your music folder inside of the “sound” folder asks you to rename the file from “rename me to just music” to “music,” When you do this process, and you rename the folder to “music,” you’ll be able to listen to music when you open Desktop Goose next.

Desktop Goose will interrupt your screen by waddling onto it with mud signs or even alone. The goose may charge at you, changing the direction of your cursor. Sometimes, the goose with catch your pointer and drag it around. Should you get tired of the goose messing around your screen, telling your goose to go home is rather easy to do. To get rid of your goose, hold the escape button down. From there, a loading bar will appear in the upper right corner of your desktop screen, this will let you know how much longer you have until your goose disappears. The taskbar also lets you turn the goose off on your own as well.

Desktop Goose is essentially a PC toy that allows you to play with a simulated goose on your screen. Your goose will interact with what you allow and will play around with you as you work. While some may find this distracting, others find the goose a great motivator to come sit in front of their computer. While the goose isn’t perfect, the developer delivers software updates to the community somewhat regularly and still has an active group of users that develop mods for your goose, giving you even more options.

Desktop Goose is developed by Samperson and is available on both PC and Mac operating systems. The goose is meant to be silly, providing digital hijinks that are both fun and distracting. This software is fun to use, but also requires a bit of coding knowledge, in the most basic ways. Because of this, there is a slight learning curve to the software, but none that should slow down your enjoyment very much. Desktop Goose can also be very distracting, so it’s best used when you’re not working on something very important. Otherwise, this program is fun, cute, and unique and is something that nearly anyone would like. Desktop Goose is unlike any other program and is a great virtual pet/toy for people of all ages. Desktop Goose is also free to download and use and has been deemed safe by many different sources. Overall, this is a fun software that’s worth looking into if you’re looking to spice up your computer sessions in a lighthearted way.
